Put the Weapon Down and Back Away Quietly

When this is in your bed.................

and looks like this...........

because you are not wearing this..............

you pick up a heavy object and take aim only to be told "put the weapon down and back away quietly."

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hanging Around the Flea Market

Just another lazy day..........and another trip to another flea market.  Today I kept my eye out to see who was hanging around and I saw some characters for sure.........

there were three lovely young ladies

one fine gentleman

three guys named Tobey

possibly a gypsy fortune teller

this Goofy fellow taking a nap

a run away bride

a Rock Star

and

one Grouch......................
(just kidding, didn't really see any grouchy people except Oscar here)

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Thanks for visiting with me.

Flea Market Art Gallery

I don't know how many times I've strolled through the flea markets here and never really stopped to enjoy the art that is for sale.  So today I made my flea market excursion into a stroll through an art gallery and stopped to enjoy all the paintings, sketches and folk art that caught my eye.

There were oils, water colors, pastels, color pencil, graphite sketches, advertising posters and folk art creations all around.  Here I will share with you some of my favorites..........

This lovely albeit somber-looking lady caught my attention and I wished I had the wall space available so I could give her a new home.

A charming colored pencil sketch seems just perfect for a country kitchen or bath.

Apples on a checkerboard, sort of surreal and seems like it's straight out of Alice and Wonderland.................

Looks like a street in Italy, Portugal, Spain or even Greece at noon on a very hot day.

This graphite portrait is just too good to be in a flea market................... don't you agree!

Poppies are always a good choice in my opinion.

Who doesn't enjoy gazing upon a refreshing winter scene on a hot summer's day?

Ah, coffee..........even the burlap coffee sack makes a fine piece of folk art if framed properly.

Now here's some really "hot" folk art.................

Two childhood favorites from years ago are still as cute as ever.

This little lady was kept high on a shelf and given a white blanket to cover her delicate parts.

Thanks for taking a walk through the flea market art gallery with me today.  I hope you enjoyed my picks and you are enjoying your day.

Mighty Oaks From Little Acorns Grow

It amazes me that even from the start, an oak tree has full grown leaves on it's tiny trunk......

It was so funny-looking when it was just a trunk and two great big leaves on top.  Those leaves are the size of my hands..............and the trunk is about the thickness of a pencil.  I thought I had a picture but can't find it at this time.

My little oak is growing; it now has two little branches.  I have to be patient, it's only a three year old.  It must be hardy because it has survived two winters in Maine.

We have 5 of these that took root and we are letting them grow in the garden because it's on the southwest side of the house where we've lost a large white birch and the other is looking pretty bad and doesn't afford much shade in the summer.  These 5 should, in time, keep our home cooler in the hot weather and still afford us the seasonal mountain views we are used to in the winter months.

Here are some of the others -

In time the garden will become filled with ground cover plants that need little care instead of the flowers that are there now.  Oh, and more of those large rocks too!

Wishing you a beautiful day.  Thank you for visiting with me today.
Hugs,

The Truth Is Out There

Sounds like an episode of "The X-Files" doesn't it?  Well last night it was...........as I peeked through the mini blinds with camera in hand to photograph some strange lights in the yard next door.

(Please be patient as videos sometimes take a while to load.) Please view full screen for best effect.

video

In the morning I went outside with my camera in hand and peeked around the bushes into the neighbor's yard to see if I could determine the source of the strange lights and this is what I found.........

this pretty crystal hummingbird decoration that is solar powered to shine at night with pretty colors.   So as Fox Mulder says "the truth is out there."

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
Keep looking for the truth.

Books For Stress Relief

One of the latest trends is coloring books for adults to relieve stress.  As I strolled through the local Wal-mart this morning I couldn't help notice that there were numerous adult coloring books for sale (more than for children).  Here are some of the ones available from basic floral to The Walking Dead.............

Surely there is something for everyone........even VOGUE is in on the deal!  And they placed them right beside the Holy Bible (see photo 4)........the other best seller for stress relief.

Thanks for visiting with me today.
Enjoy your day!

Somewhere ...........

Just sharing a favorite video and song that I hope you enjoy too. Just click the link ...

Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo

I don't have a rainbow photo so here are some clouds I flew over a couple of days ago.
I always know I am in a sad place when I listen to this song.  As I get older I find it more and more difficult to deal with people on a daily basis.

I went to the post office with a package and some letters to mail.  As I approached the steps, a man approached from the other side and he stopped and said, "I'm going to let you open the door for me,"  I was shocked that he even had the nerve to say that out loud.  I was going to open my own door anyway; I don't expect others to do it for me.  When I opened the door he slipped in behind me went off to check his post office box.  How would you have reacted?
I was really shocked but I did tell the lady postal clerk what he had done, and she was taken aback as well.

Unfortunately these incidents seem to hurt me deeply because I would never do anything like that to even my worst enemy.  I suppose I should pray for that man because to do that to someone, he must be hurting in some way.

The Albuquerque Blackburn Family & Friends

Sure was a great bunch of folk to spend a few days with.  Mike's brother Henry's memorial service and interment was on June 9 & 10 and then it was lots of food and stories and enjoying everyone's company for the next two days.

Mike and I visited the Nuclear Museum -

The museum is 9 acres of planes, and other ordinance for the big guys as well as some hands-on exhibits that were fun for children.  We found the museum by accident when we lost our way back to the hotel...........that seems to be how we find everything!

It's great to be back in Maine.
Wishing you all a great day.

He's Baaaaak...........................................

Pileated Woodpecker

Curiosity

Some say "it killed the cat" and I can see how that could happen.  Just watch what happens when I try to see what is making noise in a hollow tree stump.  Click the link ....(and turn up your sound)...........

Woodpecker Surprise

This big fellow flew out at me (well, more like to get away from me).  It's all in whose perspective you are viewing this from.

But, I haven't got that excited in ages...............................

Enjoy your day!
