WIP - Boston Terriers on Black Canvas

Hobby Lobby had this sale on black canvases back in January so I picked up this  one.

And let it sit, and sit, and sit...........until last night when the Spirit moved me and I got the inspiration to paint again.

So here I've started painting 3 Boston Terriers on a hardwood floor. Today I sketched the scene and painted the back wall.  I toyed with the ideas of 3 to 5 dogs and liked the 3 best so I chose the older male dog on the left, the puppy playing with the towel, and the other female dog who really doesn't seem to care but must have heard something interesting to turn  her head around and look.  That's the story.  A cute little family.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek.  I hope to progress daily with this painting so stay tuned for more.  This is a first for me, doing a painting that is larger than 9 x 12 and is something I've always wanted to do.

I hope you've had a wonderful day.

  5. It's off to a great start... looking forward to how it develops. I found it a challenge to move to larger canvases but now I don't fancy going back to smaller ones

    1. Oh John, I am hoping for the same thing to happen. I was always intimidated by the larger size but envied the artists who painted large. I haven't been this excited about painting in a very long time. I have lots of ideas and sketches for large paintings that I'll have to revisit after this one is finished. Like ones that go with poems I've written. Could be quite exciting to see them come to life on canvas. Thanks for stopping by. Be blessed!

    1. Thank you Meera, I am enjoying this larger size painting very much. I am working on a small easel on my kitchen counter because my grandson has use of my studio right now while he is living with us so when working on the top portion I had to wear high heels to reach. LOL There is always a way to get it done.
